CBSE Result 2026 — Class 10 & Class 12

Direct link to results.cbse.nic.in for the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exam results 2026, expected in mid-May 2026. This page updates the moment CBSE issues the official press release — including the pass percentage, region-wise toppers, distinction count, and step-by-step instructions to view, download and verify your marksheet.

Direct result links

Heads-up: the portal is overloaded for the first 90 minutes after the press release. If results.cbse.nic.in is slow, switch to digilocker.gov.in — it draws from the same backend but on different infrastructure.

What you'll need to check your result

  1. Roll number — 7 digits, printed on your admit card.
  2. Date of birth — DD/MM/YYYY exactly as on your admit card.
  3. School number — 5 digits, optional but recommended (auto-filled by most browsers from a previous session).
  4. Admit card ID — required only for the Class 12 portal.

We never ask for any of these on this site. After you receive your marks, return here to compute your aggregate — your roll number stays on the official CBSE portal.

How to check CBSE result on results.cbse.nic.in (step-by-step)

  1. Open results.cbse.nic.in in your browser.
  2. Click "CBSE Class 10 Result 2026" or "CBSE Class 12 Result 2026" — whichever applies.
  3. Enter your roll number, date of birth and (if asked) your school number.
  4. Click Submit. Your provisional marksheet will appear on screen.
  5. Take a screenshot AND download the PDF — the CBSE servers can disconnect intermittently in the first 2 hours.
  6. For the verified digital marksheet, log in to DigiLocker with your Aadhaar — the marksheet shows up there within 24 hours and is accepted by all colleges.
  7. The original physical marksheet is dispatched to your school within 4–6 weeks.

What to do right after the result is out

The 24 hours after a CBSE result are the most decision-heavy of a student's school career. Here's the order operations matter in:

If you've passed comfortably (above 75%)

Calculate your final percentage using the Best-of-Five rule (Class 12) or the 9.5×CGPA rule (Class 10). Most colleges and state-counselling portals open admission forms the same week — your CBSE percentage is the input. Save your provisional marksheet PDF and start the AISSCE / state quota / DU CSAS / IPU CET / state engineering counselling forms within 48 hours.

If you've passed but want to improve a subject

CBSE's improvement exam (Class 12) lets you re-sit any subject in the next year's main exam. Apply within 30 days of the result on the parinam.cbse.nic.in portal. The improvement marksheet replaces the original mark only if the new score is higher.

If you've been placed in compartment

The compartment exam happens in mid-July. You can sit for any subjects you failed (1–2 maximum). The portal for compartment registration opens within 7 days of the main result. Pay the per-subject fee (~₹300) and you're all set.

If you suspect a marking error

CBSE has a sequential three-step process: (1) Verification of marks (₹500/subject, 10-day window) — they re-add your marks but don't re-evaluate answers. (2) Re-evaluation (₹100/answer, 21-day window) — actual re-grading by a different examiner. (3) Photocopy of evaluated answer sheet (₹700/subject, after re-evaluation) — to verify the re-evaluation. Most marking-error wins come at step 1; very few at step 2.

Frequently asked questions

When will CBSE 2026 results be declared?

CBSE typically announces Class 10 and Class 12 results in mid-May. Based on the 2024 schedule (May 13 for both classes) and the 2023 schedule (May 12), the 2026 results are expected in the second or third week of May 2026. The exact date is announced 24-48 hours in advance via a press release on cbse.gov.in.

Where can I check my CBSE 2026 result?

The official result portal is results.cbse.nic.in. CBSE also publishes results on cbse.gov.in (the main board site) and digilocker.gov.in (for storing the digital marksheet). Mobile apps from UMANG and DigiLocker mirror the same data.

What details are needed to check the CBSE result?

Roll number (7-digit, from your admit card) and date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format. The school code (5-digit) is typically pre-filled but kept handy in case the portal requests it. No password is required — CBSE results are public.

How is the CBSE Class 10 percentage calculated?

CBSE Class 10 marksheet shows a 9-point grade for each subject (A1, A2, …, E) and a 10-point CGPA. To convert CGPA to percentage, multiply CGPA by 9.5. Example: a CGPA of 9.2 = 9.2 × 9.5 = 87.4%. Use our CGPA-to-percentage calculator for instant conversion.

What is the Best-of-Five rule for CBSE Class 12?

CBSE Class 12 aggregate is computed using the top 5 of 6 subjects: 1 language + the 4 highest-scoring subjects from your remaining 5 subjects. The English/Hindi paper is mandatory in the top 5 only if it is among your 5 highest scores; otherwise it can be dropped.

What if my result is showing 'compartment' (CMP)?

Compartment means you failed 1-2 subjects but pass overall. CBSE conducts a compartment exam in July every year. If you clear the compartment paper, you receive an updated marksheet with the compartment subject marks and your aggregate is recomputed.

What was the 2024 CBSE pass percentage?

Class 10: 93.6% (girls 94.75%, boys 92.71%). Class 12: 87.98% (girls 91.52%, boys 85.12%). Trivandrum region topped both classes with 99.75% (Class 10) and 99.91% (Class 12).

Can I apply for re-evaluation?

Yes. CBSE allows three sequential steps: (1) Verification of marks within 10 days of the result, (2) Re-evaluation of answers within 21 days, (3) Photocopy of evaluated answer sheet within 7 days of step 2. Each step has its own portal link and per-subject fee on parinam.cbse.nic.in.
